Five mins with the Founder
Thursday, May 11, 2017
You may recognise the name - Bridgette Gale - she's our Founder and Designer here at Amore + Sorvete, and also one of the most talented ladies we've ever had the pleasure of meeting. In February this year, Bridge became a mother for the first time, welcoming beautiful Marley to the world. You can imagine how special this upcoming Mother's Day will be to us at A + S!
To celebrate, we've asked Bridge some of the hard hitting questions about dividing her time between life as a successful businesswoman and a full time Mummy!
Congratulations on baby Marley how old is she and how will you spend your first Mothers’ Day?
Thank you, Marley is 12 weeks such a wonderful age now she’s smiling. We will be over in Melbourne spending time with my family.
How has your attitude to work / career changed since becoming a mother?
Amore + Sorvete will always be my first baby but my priorities have changed now I’m a wife and new mummy. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for the support of my family but at the same time who says you can’t have both, be a Mum and have a career!
How do you manage the juggle of family and work?
I have an amazing husband that also runs his own business so both being flexible with hours make a huge difference. Family time is very important to me, but my husband is extremely helpful when I’m working, or if I need to travel for work they always come with me. Marley was only six weeks old when she flew to Melbourne for a business meeting with me.
What has surprised you the most about becoming a mother & what have you found to be one of the biggest challenges?
I always thought that I would love my baby unconditionally but the protectiveness I have over Marley is indescribable, I’m sure every mother can relate.
The biggest challenge would be finding balance between being a new mum, a wife and running my own business. It’s very hard but not impossible, having a balanced life is very important to me.
What’s the best thing about being a mum?
When my baby looks up at me and smiles. It melts my heart every time, to Marley I am her absolute world and no matter how I feel that day she thinks what ever I am doing is funny. I feel so lucky to have such pure love in my life.
What do you do too look after yourself, stay calm and be a relaxed mummy?
It’s so important to find time out just on your own. My escape is in a hot yoga room where I can switch off and just think about myself for 1 hour. I need my Zen!
What advice do you have for new mothers or mothers to be?
Don’t be afraid of asking for help, there is no doubt the first 2 months are bloody hard but don’t worry you’re not going completely insane, every week gets easier.
